Synopsis: This is the story of Kristiane Backer, who is a former MTV vj and was fortunate enough to discover the righteous path of Islam.
Review:
Amazing. Kristiane has described her journey in such a beautiful way. Full of hurdles and hardships, Kristiane’s story has left me in awe.
Backer was working in MTV and was at the peak of her career, when her path crossed the path of the Pakistani Cricketer, Imran Khan.
I’d travelled to Pakistan and trekked through snow capped mountains, slept beneath the stars and spent time with simple people who made a greater impression of me with their warmth, their hospitality, and above all their faith in God...
Imran’s strong belief in his faith and Allah inspired Kristiane greatly. Although her relation with Imran was short termed, the impact of Islam had been stapled to her heart. She continued to do her research and found herself wanting to convert to Islam.
Throughout the book, beautiful analogies have been mentioned. I found myself reading some lines over and over again due to the beauty in them.
No surgeon, toxin or technology in the world can prevent the passage of time. That much I knew. Only in Paradise are we said to be forever young, and only our soul is everlasting, therefore it made sense to work on beautifying that.
“The Sufi’s arduous path to God is often described as the thorny stem of a rose, at the end of which awaits the flower itself, signifying Paradise.”
I have never been into non-fiction. If anything, I find it boring. But with this book, I couldn’t put it down. I found it super informative, interesting and entertaining - thanks to the delightful writing of Kristiane.
Definitely checkout this book if you want to inspire yourself ‼️
Stay safe! :)
