This year has been anything but normal. And, it has changed each and every single one of us in one way or anther. Personally, it has made my stress levels go 10x higher, and left me very off track and unorganised.

It is okay and completely humane to not be okay once in a while. It is okay to not have a proper plan in mind. It is okay to have a lazy day... or days. It is okay to have an unproductive day. It's okay to binge on novels instead of the physics textbook on a weekend.

Here's why it's okay to not be okay... especially during a pandemic:

  • Humans are fallible

Nothing is perfect, except for the existence of The Divine. How will you learn if you don't make mistakes? Mistakes teach us what PhD professors can't. Because at the end of the day, it's through practical experience a human learns. How can you expect yourself to grow, and mature if you were born perfect?

  • Everything has changed

The global pandemic has changed everything. How can you expect yourself to stay the same old you? Studies have become online, work has become online, shopping has become online, payments have become online, mask is the new normal, hand sanitiser is the new normal, handshakes? never heard of them, wanna sneeze? go home. The list can go on and on. How do you think you can stay sane & the same while trying to get used to this new normal? Take all the time you want to get used to all this. Take all the time you want to gather your feelings. Take all the time you want to destress.

  • Emotions are meant to be felt

Why did Allah give us the ability to feel and cry if we weren't allowed to use them? The only way to end your pain, is through it. Make peace with your pain. Do that by crying, screaming, shouting, dancing - however you feel you can process your emotions. DO NOT ignore your pain and your emotions.

These pains you feel are messengers. Listen to them.
